I recently upgraded my cpu, ram, and motherboard, and now my gpu fans are constantly running super loud which they didn’t do before I upgraded my pc. I have been trying to mess with fan curves in msi afterburner but i dont think my fan curves are actually applying to the gpu fans.

2021.10.23 00:49 Ezegnep_The_Great Just Curious

I'm just wondering why don't people who know that Build Mart is a weakness of theirs, try and get it played early? I haven't seen any attempt (at least in my memory) to get it played on like a 1.5x multiplier, which would be easier to offset the potential loss they would get from it instead of having it be played on a 2.5x multiplier or 3x multiplier and getting owned as a result. I always see teams that know that Sky Battle will be a problem for them, try and get it played early, but never really for Build Mart in recent MCCs (at least the povs I've watched)

2021.10.23 00:49 Omniaurachi [M4A] Heroes and Villains

Hi everybody, my name is Red and I have a slightly more unique proposition than usual today. I don’t have every little detail in this entire role play planned out but I wanted to do a role play where you are the one who plays the hero who saves the day and stops evil and I play the villain who is wrecking havoc all the time and stands in you're way. I know that’s not a lot to go off of but we can work out specific plot details and character dynamics together. The only other thing I’d like is for it to take in a more extraordinary environment such as a fantasy, science fiction, superhero or some other similar setting that allows for a lot of creative freedom and world building. When it comes to the response length I don’t try to put restrictions or minimums but I expect you to at least give me something to work off of and be as detailed as possible. I’d also like to explore some mature themes along the way so I’d prefer if you were 18 years of age or older. If this sounds like something you might like then comment down below or contact me privately

2021.10.23 00:49 MorsArmitage Movie adaptations of animes, cartoons, video games, etc. will never be 100% faithful because that's not what an adaptation is. (Very Long Read)

I often see a lot of disappointed reactions when a trailer (Or even just a screenshot) for an adaptation, be it a movie or a series, for a popular I.P comes out is shown for the first time, especially if it's live-action. However, what piqued my curiosity the most is the reasons why people are disappointed in the first place, the lack of faithfulness to the source material.
While we all would prefer an adaptation of our favorite series, game, anime, whatever, to be 100% faithful to the source material, that's not what makes an adaptation an adaptation to begin with. The very idea of an adaptation is to make something suitable for a new purpose, to become adjusted to new conditions. In other words, when you make something serve a different purpose, it's no longer the same thing anymore, because it has to change to serve that new purpose.
Don't get me wrong, we've had... questionable... adaptations in the past of beloved games, shows, cartoons, whatever, the Paul W.S Anderson Resident Evil movies to name a few, but I think we need to evaluate what to expect from an adaptation of our favorite whatever if we want to be less disappointed in the future.
Now the reason I bring this up is because of the disappointed reactions people are having to the new Uncharted movie, particularly because of the cast. This is often a common criticism I see of live-action adaptations; "He doesn't look or sound like the character!" or "Why didn't they get Actor X to do this? It would've been perfect!" or "This actor looks like he would be better suited for this role instead!"
In the case of Uncharted, the common criticism I see when it comes to the casting is that of Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, and often in conjunction, the idea of casting Nathan Fillion to be Drake instead. While Nathan Fillion would've been perfect for the role of a live-action Nathan Drake as evident by the short fan film he is in, the new Uncharted movie by Sony is supposed to be that of Drake when he's much younger, and if you ask me, Tom Holland is perfect for that role, otherwise it would've been very questionable why an actor in his 50's is portraying a character who is clearly supposed to be 25-30 years younger.
Not only does Tom look like how Nathan Drake would be if he was much younger than in the games, but in past films, particularly the MCU movies where he was Spiderman, his personality is similar to that of Nathan Drake if Nathan were much younger, less experienced, and less confident than his future, older counterpart, it's exactly how I would see him be if that were the case.
The funny thing is, while I see people harping on the idea that Fillion should be Drake, I don't see any alternatives to the criticisms of Mark Wahlberg as Sully. A friend of mine suggested Bryan Cranston, but I'm not sure, I haven't seen Breaking Bad so my knowledge of Cranston as an actor is extremely limited, I do remember him seeing in the 2014 Godzilla film though, but basing my knowledge of an actor's capabilities from just one film, especially when his character dies near the beginning, is a bit narrowminded.
Which brings me to my next point. Aside from the Uncharted film, there have also been criticisms against the casting of the upcoming Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City movie, particularly that of Avan Jogia as Leon and Hannah John-Kelman as Jill. While I'm not defending these casting choices per se, I think it's important to understand why these actors were chosen in the first place.
Johannes Roberts, the director of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, has stated that a common trap live-action adaptations fall into is getting actors who simply look like the characters just so they can accurately cosplay as them, rather than actors who can actually embody the spirit of that character. This is actually quite true if you look at the Anderson films, while the actors there do look like their in-game counterparts, they don't feel like them.
I agree with Roberts, I'd rather have actors who can embody the spirit of the characters rather than ones who simply look like them, and I think many people would agree with me on that, cause aside from the Anderson movies just being overall bad, the characters from the games who are in those movies are extremely forgettable. If the actors Roberts picked for the new RE movie can embody the spirit of the characters their portraying as, then I'd rather have them than the actors Anderson picked for his films, who are just cosplayers.
And Sometimes, some actors are the best choices for certain roles, even if they don't look like them if they're basing it off an already existing I.P. Why do you think Benedict Cumberbatch always plays the role of a smart-but-arrogant character? Because he nails that role perfectly. Josh Dallas from Manifest and Once Upon A Time is perfect for the roles of being a fathehusband because he nails those roles perfectly, and he is my personal pick for a live-action Ethan Winters in a film based on Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, even if he actually doesn't look like Ethan to begin with.
Point being, I think people who are fans of the works that are being adapted to the big screen often have unrealistic expectations for what they want, not unobtainable, just unrealistic, because they imagine the adaptation to be exactly 100% exactly like the source material to the point that it's the exact same thing as the games, and therefor expect the directors to cast actors who 100% look like the characters when, again, the point of adapting in general is to take something and change it to serve a new purpose different from the one that it originally had, and adapting something like a video game into a movie is always going to be tricky, especially if you are trying to a fit the story of game like Uncharted, which are usually 8-15 hours long, into a hour and a half movie.
Even though there are many fan films of games, animes, whatever that one could point and say "Much better than what Hollywood did!", that's only because it's made from the perspective of a fan rather than someone who actually works in the movie industry and has to deal with the restrictions and politics that comes in those kinds of careers, whereas fan films generally don't, and believe me I've seen many fan films of franchises I'm a huge fan of that range from amazing to downright pieces of trash that make certain live-action adaptations look like masterpieces by comparison.
That being said, I think both the upcoming Uncharted and Resident Evil movies will be great, I'd probably put them up on par if not superior to the first Silent Hill film, which I consider to be the best live-action adaptation of a video game ever made (Granted, I haven't seen every live-action adaptation so I could be wrong on that). Even then, the first Silent Hill film, while faithful, does take creative liberties to make it seem more unique among the series rather than just being Silent Hill 1 but a movie.
